Exporting data is where it leaves the platform's controls, so it is the step an auditor asks about first. Until this release each export format carried its own logic and its own limits. This release puts every format behind one service that applies the same rules and keeps the same record, and brings it to the database workbench.
One service, every format
- Eleven formats. XLS, XLSX, CSV, UNLOAD, JSON, XML, SQL, TXT, HTML, PDF and FO are rendered by the same service from the same options.
- One row ceiling. The maximum row count is enforced in the service for every format, rather than by the few writers that happened to honour it.
- Every export recorded. Each export, successful or failed, is written to the audit log with who ran it, the source object or statement, the dictionary and the format.
In the workbench
- Export from the results. A result set is exported from the results toolbar through the shared service.
- Export without running twice. A statement can be exported directly from the Run menu, so a costly query or process runs once, for the export, instead of once to view and again to export.
Existing exports keep their formats and options; what changes is that each one now leaves a record.
